Poly Pipe: Green stripe, Blue stripe: What’s the difference?
We often see various installations of tanks and pumps, one common thing we often notice is the prevalent use of Rural grade green stripe poly pipe in “drinking” “Potable” water applications.
Rural poly pipe grade is identified by a green stripe running along its length. Its primary Applications consist of Agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, and rural uses for low pressure water transfer applications. Rural Poly Pipe is not suitable for potable (drinking) water. It is mainly used in situations where human consumption is not a factor. It is often chosen for its cost effectiveness and adequate performance in non-drinking water applications.
Blue Line Metric Poly pipe is easiest identified by the blue stripe running along its length. It is suited for drinking water applications, ensuring there is no taint or taste to the water. It is Certified for potable water and is safe for human consumption. Made from food-grade materials, compliant with drinking water standards.
Ensure your installation is using food grade materials if the water is for human consumption. All our rainwater tanks are made with food grade materials so it’s only logical that downpipes from catchments areas and pipework from the tanks is also food grade materials as well.
